Public Information Internship

Number of Positions: 1 Fall, Spring and Summer Semesters

Position Summary: Interns in Media Relations will assist in game-day setup of the media Work Room, acquire post-game quotes from visiting coaches and players, distribute monthly media clippings, and assist in statistical/historical compilation of information.

Hours Required: 35+ Hours per week

When to Apply: All interested students must have cover letters and resumes mailed to the above address six months prior to the semester they wish to do their internship.

What to Expect: These positions are unpaid and students must be receiving college credit. Approximately 6-8 people will be selected to come in at their own expense for the interview process, 3-4 weeks prior to the start of the internship program. Criteria & Qualifications:
1. Junior, senior or graduate-level student
2. Media/Public Relations, communications, or journalism majors
3. Strong writing and spelling skills, interviewing experience, availability for long hours, good communications skills (verbal and written), adaptability to environment involving several simultaneous projects
4. Computer knowledge a plus
5. Basketball knowledge a plus
6. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

Responsibilities:
1. Office/administrative duties, including data entry, copying, filing, faxing, etc.
2. Assist in game-day setup of media work room
3. Acquiring post-game quotes from visiting coaches and players
4. Assist in statistical/historical compiling of information
5. Distribute monthly media clippings
6. Assisting in other departments when needed
